vpadman Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 Please some suggest some ways in which I can find a hotel in priceline that is close to the chicago midway airport.I would like to know about 3 to 4 star hotels in this area. The most important factor for me is closeness to a train station since I wont be having a car. Thanks and Regards
thereuare Posted June 24, 2009 Report Posted June 24, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding! You can see hotels reported to the board in the Priceline Hotel List but i'm not sure how much good that will do you since you're trying to be close to a train station, and with PRICELINE you can't choose a specific location or hotel, you have to be willing to accept a hotel anywhere within the shaded region of the zone as defined by PRICELINE.HOTWIRE may be a better option as you can often take an educated guess as to the hotel offered by upon the star rating and amenities provided, and therefore have an educated guess as to how far from the train station you may be, but there are no guarantees you (or we) will guess correctly. However, if the hotel you purchase offers a Shuttle, at least a 'back-up' plan would be taking the hotel shuttle to the airport, then taking the train from the airport... not the most convenient option, but at least a back-up plan if you wanted to give HOTWIRE a try.You can also enter the airport code at Maps and Hotels.com and by zooming in/out you can see the various train stations on the map and see which hotels are nearby, if you choose to book direct.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. vpadman Posted June 24, 2009 Author Report Posted June 24, 2009 Is it generally cheaper to stay in the midway airport area or downtown area? How much should I start bidding for a 3 start hotel in the midway airport area or downtown area. Thanks
AaronJB Posted June 24, 2009 Report Posted June 24, 2009 The issue with staying by Midway is that there is nothing much there besides the airport; it's not a great area, and not one I'd recommend staying at unless you had to catch a plane at the airport the next day.Are you driving? What is your budget per night for hotel?
vpadman Posted June 24, 2009 Author Report Posted June 24, 2009 I am not driving. Only advantage of staying in MDW is that we have a early morning return flight. Is it easy to get around from MDW hotels to downtown by taking the train.I would like to spent 50 - 60 dollars per night for a 3 star hotel. I
thereuare Posted June 24, 2009 Report Posted June 24, 2009 Are you comfortable receiving a hotel anywhere in the zone? What are the dates of your stay? Historically Midway has been a tough zone for great deals, although this year, with the economic slowdown, we are seeing more wins than in years past. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. streakeasy Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 Stay away from Midway airport. Stay in the city. The Orange Line on the "L" will take you directly to the airport and won't take more than 30 minutes.
