wannabelyn Posted June 23, 2009 Report Posted June 23, 2009 Hello! It's my first time using the board. I tried the past 2 weeks periodically bidding on hotels on PRICELINE (i used the link from here).I placed my bids up to $80 for USE 4* for these dates and i did all the different combinations (I think there were 4) and they were all rejected. I really wanted grand hyatt. I might keep trying on priceline but I am also considering hotwire since the price will more or less be the same! My first preference is USE because I've been reading on the tripadvisor forums that USE is better? I suspect the dates that I am after must be very popular. Apparently there's a lung cancer conference?SO anyway I am thinking of trying HOTWIRE instead.I have the following hotels, can someone help me ID?4* USW $99Fitness CenterPoolRestaurantBusiness CenterHigh-speed Internet Access4.0/5.0 340+ on tripadvisor4* USE $119his hotel features the following amenities:Fitness CenterPoolRestaurantBusiness CenterHigh-speed Internet Access4.0/5.0 300+ on tripadvisor3.5* USE $78his hotel features the following amenities:Fitness CenterRestaurantBusiness CenterHigh-speed Internet Access3.5/5.0 300+ on tripadvisorTHANK YOU!!!!
wannabelyn Posted June 23, 2009 Author Report Posted June 23, 2009 I suspect the 3.5 star USE is Sir Francis Drake based on the research around the board.Although when i searched this afternoon it had 4 amenities and also trip advisor status but now it does not have a restaurant and does not show the trip advisor status anymore. The 4* USW could be the Clift. it has 343 Reviews on Trip advisor...Anyone with anymore info? Much appreciated.Thanks.
wannabelyn Posted June 23, 2009 Author Report Posted June 23, 2009 don't worry about my request anymore. I've booked on priceline instead. i did use the PRICELINE link.

wannabelyn Posted August 18, 2009 Author Report Posted August 18, 2009 I am back and would like to share my experience about the hotel.I think it was well located and not at all dodgy. It was easy to walk to from powell st station, not difficult to find at all.It was near the shopping and has a lot of diners around it.Rooms were fairly small but still reasonably sized.Concierges were helpful in providing assistance ie booking tickets or holding our luggage after check in.
