Ulmer Posted June 21, 2009 Report Posted June 21, 2009 Hi, we're travelling the west coast in July. I'm looking for a nice Hotel around San Francisco, we have a 1yr old daughter, so a pool would be nice. We also travelling by car, so hundreds of dollars for parking? Thx ... Any tip for a hotel bookable via PL or HW for SF, may be with public transport ????Thx from germany!Ulmer
AaronJB Posted June 21, 2009 Report Posted June 21, 2009 Welcome to the site. The issue with any major city is that parking costs are likely going to be high - it's an unfortunate fact for those driving. If you look up San Fran for these dates with 2 adults (HOTWIRE's age range for a child is 2-17, so you wouldn't have to include in the #'s), the service has a series of 4*'s in various areas in the $140-160 range, but none of them have a pool. There is, however, a 3.5* in the Fisherman's Wharf area with Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Laundry for $140 (the price you see may vary slightly), which would be a match for the Hyatt. Please use the site's HOTWIRE link if this idea is of interest.
Gallus50 Posted June 21, 2009 Report Posted June 21, 2009 The Adagio has a deal on Hotwire Travel Ticker for a room that's $110 which includes parking. The Adagio is a beautiful hotel in a central location on Geary near Jones. This is a great deal since parking downtown can easily be over $25 a night - sometimes upwards of $35. If this is available, I'd take it. Another area that usually includes parking is Marina/Cow Hollow. The Hotel Del Sol out there has a pool and is very appealing to both kids and grownups. It's a Kimpton Hotel. I'd check their website for deals as that would be a good choice, too.Another place with a pool that's fairly central is the Holiday Inn Golden Gateway. Nice views, on Van Ness and right next to the California Cable car. They have a deal right now, too, either thru TravelTicker or TravelZoo. So does the Handelry Union Square ($89). It's even more central than the Adagio. All of these are great deals with comparable prices to HW and PL. I'd seriously consider them before bidding.
Gallus50 Posted June 22, 2009 Report Posted June 22, 2009 Sorry, quick correction. Hotel del Sol is a Joie de Vivre hotel, and it looks pretty busy this summer. I also wanted to add that if you're staying a whole week with a baby, you might want to stay in a suite/apartment type accommodation. Grosvenor House Suites and Gaylord Suites Hotels spring to mind, and both have kitchens. Gaylord may be as little as $500 - $600 for the week.
