mightbebrian Posted October 15, 2004 Report Posted October 15, 2004 Ok new guy here and let me just say this is an awesome resource, thanks.I am travelling to Disney/Islands with 2 friends from Miami (all of us 20-30, no kids) and I want a resort hotel. We will be staying 2 nights 11/12/04 - 11/14/04 and would like to get a resort hotel. I would love to end up with the Gaylord of something of that caliber (what I consider to be a true resort), but from what I heard the Wyndam isn't all that great and I would like to avoid it even if it means paying more. Most people I read on here seem to get the Gaylord at around $80. Can anyone suggest a strategy for me to avoid something like the Wyndam and get something like the Gaylord if I am willing to pay $80?ALSO: I tried Hotwire and from what I could tell comparing with what I see on this board I kept getting what looks like the Wyndam ($83 Walt Disney World Area Customer Favorite, Selected amenities include: Restaurant(s), Pool(s), Fitness Center, Spa Services, Golf Nearby, Tennis Nearby, Business Center.)The only reason I mention Hotwire is because they have a $50 coupon for first time users, which I am, and I would love to find something other then the Wyndam for $80-$100 and take advantage of that. Any advice on minipulating Hotwire in my favor? Thanks much,Brian
thereuare Posted October 15, 2004 Report Posted October 15, 2004 Welcome to BetterBidding! The Hotwire promotion isn't for $50 off, but rather $10 off per nite up to 5 nites, so the discount for your stay would be $20. The Hotwire hotel does appear to be the Wyndham. You could start your bidding higher than what you could otherwise be successful at, but this is not recommended, as you could very easily end up getting the hotel you are trying to avoid and paying too much for it. You should give this thread a read: DON'T BID HIGHER FOR A SPECIFIC HOTEL.We can suggest a strategy for however you want to play it, but my opinion based upon the information above, is to not to attempt bidding higher for the 'better' resort. You could probably beat the $73 rate ($83/nite - $10/nite) thru Priceline. Let us know how you want to proceed and we'll suggest a strategy. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
