Isle of Man Posted June 19, 2009 Report Posted June 19, 2009 Hi FolksWe are in NYC for 5 days 4 nights from Thursday 3rd Sept until Monday 7th SeptemberIs it unreasonable to hope and get a 4* Time Square hotel for $150? I have had numerous bids rejected and this really is my maximum. What would I need to be bidding to win?I have seen others have won bids in this area but at a different time of year, so im just wondering if I am wasting my time or not?Shall I leave it til closer to the time to do the bidding? Thanks to everybodyIsle of Man :)
AaronJB Posted June 19, 2009 Report Posted June 19, 2009 Are you only interested in TS? There are some other very nice areas in NYC nearby, such as MTE. I'm a little surprised that $150 wasn't accepted, as rates really aren't that bad at all (for NYC) for these dates. HOTWIRE has a 4* in TS for $178, and a couple of 3.5*'s in other areas for the $120's.I'd keep bidding, but maybe wait a few days and start back at $135. If you want to try for other areas (MTE, etc.), I'd start lower ($125) and work up.Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links.

The Times Square area is the only area we are interested in to be honest.Anybody else have any ideas or do people think I dont really have a chance with this? Thanks everybody
MatLDZ Posted June 22, 2009 Report Posted June 22, 2009 If I were you, I would definitely consider adding Midtown East and West along with a MSG area. You would still be in the very centre of Manhattan, close to everything.

Isle of Man Posted July 1, 2009 Author Report Posted July 1, 2009 I tried again today going up to $160.00 again but still no joy, I suppose all I can do is try every other day up until a few days before we go and hope for the best, though im not holding my breath !!
AaronJB Posted July 1, 2009 Report Posted July 1, 2009 While I know you did mention only wanting to be in TS, just wanted to mention that there are other, cheaper options nearby - HOTWIRE has a 3.5* boutique in the Empire State Building area w/breakfast and other amenities for $149.
