psonic Posted June 17, 2009 Report Posted June 17, 2009 A few weeks back I won the Marriot Wailea for $160 for 8/9-8/12 (yes we used the PRICELINE link from this site). I was worried about getting the Prince. However when I bid the Wailea - Makena region, I noticed that 4* was available (as was Resort), so I went on a hunch that the 4* was the Marriot or better. After some lower bids (140, 150), $160 was accepted for 4* and it was the Marriot Wailea. So has this hotel been upgraded to 4*? It appears so. If so, bidding on 4* in that region could be a way to avoid the Prince. FYI I went to priceline and entered some other dates and Wailea - Makena still shows 4* as an available option. Does anyone know if this region had a 4 star before? There isn't one listed in the Priceline Hotel List on this site.
thereuare Posted June 17, 2009 Report Posted June 17, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding!THIS LINK shows that the Marriott is still Resort rated by PRICELINE... what likely happened is that your 4* bid was upgraded to a Resort class property, since the star rating you select is the minimum you're willing to accept.Thank you for sharing your win with the board and using our PRICELINE link to begin your bidding.Enjoy your stay. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
