Croslex Posted June 15, 2009 Report Posted June 15, 2009 Hi everybody, congrats on this great homepage.I'm searching for a room in Boston from July 4th till July 5th. Its' important that it's central (close to either south bus station or back bay bus station, since we're leaving for NYC very early in the morning) So I think that either Copley Square, Financial District or Waterfront will apply. I tried going up as high as $85 and as low as 2 1/2 stars and haven't succeeded so far.I'm more interested spending little money than having a great hotel (since the time spend there will be very little as well). Is it smart to wait until the last minute or will the prices go up the longer I wait? Has anybody experience with going down as low as 1 star? What can I expect for 1 star and at what price should I start if I consider bidding on 1 star?My absolute maximum limit is $90 is that realistic? Thanks for your help! :)
Croslex Posted June 15, 2009 Author Report Posted June 15, 2009 Sorry I didn't mean waterfront but harborfront. Waterfront is too far away from the bus stations
thereuare Posted June 16, 2009 Report Posted June 16, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding! My absolute maximum limit is $90 is that realistic?Given your current rejections up to $85, it doesn't leave much room for your success at $90 or less, so i'd say probably not realistic at the moment for a 2.5* or higher. Is it smart to wait until the last minute or will the prices go up the longer I wait?See the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ.Has anybody experience with going down as low as 1 star? What can I expect for 1 star and at what price should I start if I consider bidding on 1 star? Why wouldn't you bid on a 2* at the next piont in the progression? I wouldn't recommend an unknown 1* hotel... but you can see all hotels reported to the board in the PRICELINE hotel list. Before going totally 'blind' on a 1* hotel i'd streatch your budget $8 and take the $98 2* hotel in the (Back Bay - Copley Square) zone, which while not yet identified, at least it shows a Tripadvisor rating of 3.5/5.0 so can at least assme it's decent (if perhaps not likely the greatest deal in the area)Do you have a back-up plan? What is you are rejected up to $90... even for a 1*? (if you chose to bid that low)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Croslex Posted June 16, 2009 Author Report Posted June 16, 2009 The problem is that there are hardly any 2* hotels that apply to my selected areas on your hotwire and priceline list. The backup plan is either the yet unidentified 2* hotel for $98 on hotwire or to take a bus to nyc that leaves in the middle of the night and not spend the night in a hotel at all.
thereuare Posted June 16, 2009 Report Posted June 16, 2009 The 'problem' is that you're looking for a "cheap" hotel in the center of the city in the middle of a busy holiday weekend... not a good scenario if looking for a low priced deal.
