NYM Posted June 12, 2009 Report Posted June 12, 2009 Can anyone identify this 3.5* hotel; amenities include:No Smoking Fitness Restaurant Business Center Hi-Speed Internet Golf Tennis Dates required are 10/12 - 10/16 and this property is listed for $76 per night.Other possibilities for the same dates are a 4* hotel in the same area - probably the Allerton or the Westin?Or a 3.5* hotel in the Magnificent Mile area - the Amalfi? Any ID suggestions or feedback on the above hotels appreciated. :)
AaronJB Posted June 13, 2009 Report Posted June 13, 2009 Welcome to the site. :)The 3.5* would be the Ambassador East. The 4* NMA could be a few different possibilities. The 3.5* Mag Mile/Streeterville (with its 4.5/5 tripadvisor rating on the detail page) would likely be the Amalfi, which would be the best option of the bunch, in my opinion. Please use the site's HOTWIRE link to start your purchase.
NYM Posted June 13, 2009 Author Report Posted June 13, 2009 Thank you! Will look at the reviews for the above hotels and then decide. Will definitely use the HOTWIRE link - this board is a great resource. :)
AaronJB Posted June 13, 2009 Report Posted June 13, 2009 Happy to help. :)The Amalfi would be the nicest option, but if you are just looking for a place to sleep, the Ambassador East is just fine. The Ambassador East is to the North of the North Michigan Ave. area, in the Gold Coast neighborhood. The Amalfi is more centrally located in the River North area.
NYM Posted June 14, 2009 Author Report Posted June 14, 2009 Thanks to Aaron, got the Amalfi for those four nights and yes, booked through the Betterbidding link. :) Ambassador reviews were luke-warm and a little off the beaten path for our purpose - girl's shopping trip whereas the Amalfi appears to be between Mag Mile and State Street so perfect location.4* was either the Allerton (but seem to provide just a king bed, whereas a room with two beds required) or the Westin. Wasn't taking the 50/50 gamble and besides the Amalfi offers complimentary continental breakfast and an evening cocktail. :) Thanks so much for narrowing down the options - as a newbie, wondering if there is some forum etiquette about posting the win/details?
AaronJB Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 The board asks that everyone post hotel name, price, amenities (in terms of HOTWIRE) and dates, so that the information can help others who may be looking for a hotel during the same time period. :)What was the price paid (before tax/fees) for the Amalfi?Thank you for posting your win, and please continue to use the site's HOTWIRE and PRICELINE links for your future purchases. Can't do much better than the Amalfi, which offers both free breakfast and an evening reception. Also, it's in a terrific location in the River North area - plenty of restaurants nearby, including the famed Frontera Grill. Bin 36 in the nearby House of Blues Complex (a block South) is a great wine bar if you want to stop for a drink (although, given that you get a free cocktail reception at the Amalfi, you may just want to stick with that, instead.) The lowest retail price for the hotel for these dates is $246.50 on Expedia.
NYM Posted June 14, 2009 Author Report Posted June 14, 2009 $246? :) It was $112 per night, before taxes, on HOTWIRE. :o And thanks for the heads-up on the area. :)
AaronJB Posted June 14, 2009 Report Posted June 14, 2009 Happy to help. :)Feel free to post if you have any questions regarding the area. October's certainly a great time to visit weather-wise.
