Priceline Hotel: 4* San Diego (Downtown-Harbor Island) Manchester Grand Hyatt

Good deal gurus:

Any strategies for a 4* San Diego (Downtown-Harbor Island) avoiding the Westgate.

I'm staying from 7/11 - 7/17 for a large conference at the convention center and would love to get the Hyatt Manchester for under $100 (the Omni will work also for under $100).

Is bidding for Sat night 7/11 only, seeing what I get, and trying to extend extra days (hopefully that gets offered) a good way to go?

You could bid and (hope) that you are allowed to extend your stay, or you could look at HOTWIRE. HOTWIRE may be a bit more expensive, but would allow you to have a better chance to narrowing down which hotel you may get. HOTWIRE would be the better choice if you really don't want a particular hotel.

Is there anything showing on HOTWIRE for these dates of interest?

This won't work...

Even if the offer to "add a nite" is offered, you can only try to add the number of nites up to the number of nites of your original purchase... so if you purchase one nite, you will only be able to add one extra nite to the stay (not six)

There is no way to avoid a particular hotel in the zone when bidding on PRICELINE. If there is a hotel you're trying to avoid/not willing to accept, HOTWIRE may be a better, yet slightly more expensive, option.
