AlisonEngland Posted June 11, 2009 Report Posted June 11, 2009 Hi, I am looking to book a hotel for two nights (22nd/23rd June) for 1 adult and 2 kids. If I put in those two nights then some hotels don't appear. If I look at each night as a separate booking then I get different options. What are the hidden pitfalls of booking two nights in the same place separately? Could I be forced to check out and check in again! Why does this occur? Do Hotwire get a bigger fee for two separate bookings? The hotel I am interested in is a 3.5* TSD Suite, Fitness Centre, restaurant. I imagine its the Doubletree Guest Suites. It appears at $179 for each night. Thanks in advance!Ali
thereuare Posted June 11, 2009 Report Posted June 11, 2009 The booking fee is a little higher when booking 2 one nite stays vs. 1 two nite stay, but you're not talking much, maybe the total difference will be $2-3... but this isn't HOTWIRE trying to get an extra few dollars from you, it's possible that the hotel has set a one nite maximum stay (for whatever reason) and that could explain why you're not seeing this property offered on your two nite search. The risk in booking two separate rooms:-after you book the first nite the second nite may suddenly no longer appear-you could receive different hotels (although i dont' think that's likely in this situation)-you could have to change rooms, but this is almost never necessary... at check-in you let them know that you have a separate, but continuous, reservation and ask them if they'll block the room for the second nite. You will often need to go to the desk on 'switch' day to have them officially check you out and back in again, but you can go any time during the day when there's no crowd and have them take care of it.I assume the full amenities being shown are:Suite, Restaurant, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business ??Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. AlisonEngland Posted June 12, 2009 Author Report Posted June 12, 2009 Thanks for your advice. In the end I booked a different hotel as I didn't want to risk having to move two jetlagged kids halfway through the day! Will post results in new thread.
