Because the Trump price is so low on the listed price, under 140, how is it possible to win a 5* hotel on the north strip other than Trump. If you hit a day the Trump was full? It seems like the other 5* hotels wouldnt even bother to be listed as they are so far above the T price wise.

Very confused.

Currently I am only bidding on the South Strip for 5* but I suspect my price under 100 is hopeless as this is probably the Mandalay? It is feeling a lot more like Hotwire is the way to go in Vegas.

Welcome to the site.

When you bid on PRICELINE, you can potentially get any hotel at the star rating chosen in that zone. While the Trump *may* come up because of its low price, it may not - there's no way to know for sure .

However, that's the trade-off that you have to accept with PRICELINE, and if there's a hotel that you do not want at all (like the Trump), then unfortunately, the best choice is not to bid for that star rating in that area and go to HOTWIRE.

Even if the Trump was not the lowest priced 5* in the area, you could still bid for a 5* in that area and possibly get it. The lowest priced hotel is not necessarily the one you win, but you have to be willing to accept any of the possibilities.

Please use the site's HOTWIRE and PRICELINE links.

Well. I did my research and spent 2 weeks bidding on mostly 5 Star hotels , nothing over 90 bucks north or south strip. My plan was to wait til the day of or day before my arrival to see if i could get lucky. (this is the only kind of gambling i enjoy.. so a lot of LV is wasted on me!) Night before our stay the tension just got to be too much and i quickly forgot everything i had read and learned on this great site. Put in an 80 bid on 4* south. Got the Westin.

So.. My wife and I have set our expections low. However one GOOD thing. All my bidding previously was for a 5 night stay. I switched a few days ago to only bidding on fri/sat 12/13 bids. This way we can roam the strip and decide where we want to spend the last 3 nights. Will try priceline again avoiding the Westin (unless we love it)

Sorry for the babble.

Boy i let the pressure get the best of me on that bid. I should have been writing my rules down as i learned them to have them in front of me for every bid. Note to other newer Priceline Bidders. ANd really this applies to all when researching a new area. make notes. Live by them. Then live by what you win.. and just enjoy
