Nodge Posted October 12, 2004 Report Share Posted October 12, 2004 Hotwire 3.5* in Portland, Oregon (Greater Downtown Portland Area) on 11/11/2004 (for one night) was:Hotel Vintage Plaza422 SW BroadwayPortland, Oregon 97205(503) 228-1212Amenities listed: restaurant, fitness center, business center Hotwire Price: $62/night (with taxes, etc., total was $75.95)FYI, the cheapest rate via the hotel's web site was $116/night plus taxes (with AAA discount) or $129/night plus taxes ("best available rate"). Interestingly, if you enter a reservation on the hotel's web site, but don't book it, a pop-up ad will sweeten the deal by offering you a complementary room upgrade and guaranteed 2 pm late check-out if you book via the hotel's web site. The hotel was also offering an $89/night "hot date" rate, but it had to have been booked at least 14 days in advance.The official tourism website for Portland, Oregon is: www.travelportland.comIt routinely offers discount packages on Portland area hotels that can't be found anywhere else on the web. For example, through 2/28/2005 it is currently offering "The Portland Big Deal" package which includes a hotel room, daily continental breakfast for two, and free parking. A large number of area hotels are participating in this promotion, including the Vintage Plaza. Under this promotion, the rate for the Vintage Plaza is $125/night (weeknights) and $139/night (weekends). Considering parking at the Vintage Plaza is currently $23/night, the "big deal" may be a good deal for those who plan on parking their car at the hotel and who plan on eating a lot of Link to comment
