first I find your website awesome!

I've tried to bid on a hotel near Pike Place for July 30th - 1 night 2 rooms thru Priceline - after reading experience from other I started at 80 and went up to my highest bid was 100 and it got rejected..

does it mean that there is no room available at a low price? should I just try hotwire or try going up in price thru Priceline?

thanks!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

Your rejections mean that currently there are no hotels which are willing to accept your bid at $100/nite. HOTWIRE is usually a little more expensive than PRICELINE so i'm doubtful you'll find a 4* in this area for under the $100 you've already been rejected at via PRICELINE, and searching HOTWIRE shows this to be the case with the 4* hotel in the Pike Place zone priced at ~$169/nite.

If you wanted to try to get this done and bid higher i suspect it will likely take somewhere between $110-$135/nite to be succesful for a 4* on PRICELINE, or you can find a fully cancellable backup (use our BetterChecker to assist in your search) and continue to try HOTWIRE and PRICELINE in hopes that lower priced inventory opens up closer to your arrival. The other options are to expand the zones you're willing to accept (i don't necessarily favor this in this area as it think the Pike Place zone in Seattle is by far the best place to be situated) or stick with your current budget and try for a 3.5* property.

What is the best rate you're able to find at a suitable hotel thru conventional booking channels?

thank you - I tried for a 3.5 star hotel too and it did not work... I might stick with hotwire then... the La quinta thru hotwire seems good - but further walking distance. we only need 1 night - catching a ferry to OPI next morning but want to enjoy downtown Seattle and don't have to drive anywhere :) - I'll let you know what options we'll choose.

thanks again!

I think it's way too early to lock yourself into a reservation for a hotel that you don't really want, unless the deal is just too good to pass up. But I'm not sure what La Quinta hotel you're talking about on HOTWIRE. Where do you see it?

the La Quinta deal went away I guess. it said 2.5 star by the Seattle Needle

I just got this hotel Silver Cloud Hotel - Stadium thru hotwire. I put it in the HOTWIRE thread. thanks all for the help. I might have gotten a better deal. it is my first time with HOTWIRE... oh well. that's how you learn :)
