leey Posted June 10, 2009 Report Posted June 10, 2009 Trying to get a 4* room for three nights, 6/27 to 6/30. I rebid a few times, going up to $136 for MTE and CPS. I saw someone else posted $130 for MTE for 6/29 to 7/2 so I was loathe to go too much higher. I can probably go up to $150 but I was hoping for something more in the $120 range. Also I don't mind MTW but preferably not that Sheraton. Also don't mind Soho area, but preferably not that Millenium Hilton. (I know, I'm being kind of picky)I am giving up for today but would like some help for re-bidding in 24 hours. So if I've already been rejected for MTE and CPS at $136, does that mean I should start at $136 and higher the next time around? Or could a bid rejected on one day be accepted on a later day? I was also thinking of trying a 3.5* hotel at MTE or CPS after 24 hours. What do you think is a good starting bid might be for that, given that $136 for 4* was rejected?Another alternative was trying MTW and dealing with the Sheraton? Do you think that will be similarly priced as MTE and CPS zones, i.e., I should start at $136 and higher? Thanks!
AaronJB Posted June 10, 2009 Report Posted June 10, 2009 Welcome to the site. A bid rejected is pretty unlikely to be accepted 24 hours later, although not completely out of the question. I wouldn't recommend going on what others have bid, as unless they are bidding for the exact same dates, their rate is not a good comparison, as rates are "date-specific".If you want to try again, I would try again for a 4* in MTE/CPS at $140.You may be able to get a cheaper rate in MTW, but there is the possibility of the Sheraton, which seems "dreaded", but reviews from some on this board recently haven't been that bad. Keep in mind many of the reviews are from people who paid as much as twice (if not more) the average PRICELINE rate.I'm a tad surprised that PRICELINE and HOTWIRE rates seem a little elevated for these dates (maybe something going on?) as regular rates don't seem that bad (well, for NYC.)Please use the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links.
