Sara Sue Posted June 9, 2009 Report Posted June 9, 2009 We will be traveling 6/16 through 6/22 and are trying to figure out our best bet in regard to a hotel. Although we will visit Time Square both my husband and I prefer a neighborhood feel. Stayed in LES last year with a friend. I'm wondering about any of the Thompson hotels and any feedback some might have. Do these ever come up on Priceline or Hotwire? Any thoughts on the Soho/Tribeca area? Thanks for your help. As far as price, I'd love to be be under 125.00.
thereuare Posted June 9, 2009 Report Posted June 9, 2009 You can see all hotels reported to the board in the Priceline Hotel List (and the Hotwire Hotel List)If you're looking to use PRICELINE there isn't much use in trying to figure out which hotel in the zone you'd like as you're not going to have much of a say in the hotel you receive... your hotel can be anywhere in the zone at the minimum star rating (or higher) you select. So even if you like/want the Thomspon hotels, there is no way to target that property and avoid any of the hotel hotels in the zone at that star level or higher. With HOTWIRE you can often take an educated guess as to the property you may likely receive based upon the amenities associated with the hotel offered, but a quick search shows most hotels there over your target budget. In regards to the Soho zone, the issue is that the zone is much larger than Soho itself, and the odds favor that you'll more than likely end upon the Financial District area.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Sara Sue Posted June 9, 2009 Author Report Posted June 9, 2009 I hadn't really thought that out thoroughly in regards to the whole region that a Soho bid could bring about. Ultimately, the best deal is key. We are pretty open about location. I would prefer being around Times Square than directly in it. Not necessarily in the financial district. A three or four star with max bid to start of 125. Any help would be great. Thanks.
thereuare Posted June 9, 2009 Report Posted June 9, 2009 If you go to PRICELINE and look at the zones and their boundaries, which ones are you willing to accept? Also, note that there is a 3.5* class (so you dont' need to only consider 3* and 4* hotels). For this stay are you willing to pay more for a 4* vs. a 3.5* vs. a 3* and want to try up to your limit first for a 4*, then if rejected lower to a 3.5*, then if rejected lower to a 3*... OR is your goal the least expensive 3* (or 3.5*?) or better hotel for this stay?Let us know each of the above and we'll advise accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Sara Sue Posted July 22, 2009 Author Report Posted July 22, 2009 Second attempt at NYC on PRICELINE. Kept rebidding using my free zones up to 125 to no avail for a 4 Star. Ended up staying with friend in Brooklyn.
