Priceline Hotel: New York (Anywhere central)

Hi all,

I am going to New York between 22nd - 25th Aug 2009 and am looking to stay somewhere central (not lower manhatten though) and this is my first time ever of using PRICELINE so am quite new to it all.

Basically, I am looking to spend either upto $110 for a 4* (my preference) or spend maybe uptp $80? for a 3*.

As for strategy, I am not sure how to begin. Should I start wby chosing one area with 4 star at $90.. then chose another area and then $95? etc. keep increasing gradually. If I then hit $110 I can then stop and then try to find a 3* hotel by starting my bids at $60 then placing more bids and changing my area?

I really am not too sure.

Any help would be great - I have gone through a lot of this website and have not found anything to specifically help with this for new york?
