mbryant25 Posted June 5, 2009 Report Posted June 5, 2009 Hello,We (2 adults) are planning our 1st trip to NYC and wanted to know what a good price to bid would be for the follow dates in Time Square: 6/18-6/22 and possible what hotel we could get. Any of the 4* hotels listed on your priceline list would be great. Our trip is now less than two weeks away, should we wait a few more days, or book something now before rooms fill up?Thanks,mbryant25
AaronJB Posted June 5, 2009 Report Posted June 5, 2009 Welcome to the site.Waiting to the last minute is a gamble; while prices may come down slightly, you risk waking up one morning to see that they've ramped higher. There's no way to predict occupancy rates, but if they go up, hotel rates will rise. Are you looking to stay in TS only? Are you willing to accept any of the other Midtown areas? What is your budget per night?Congrats on your first trip to NYC - definitely wear comfortable shoes, as you'll find yourself doing a LOT of walking each day. Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links when you do decide to book.
mbryant25 Posted June 5, 2009 Author Report Posted June 5, 2009 We are definitely open to other Midtown areas. We saw that HOTWIRE currently (as of an hour ago) has 4* in Time Square for $169/night for our dates (and all signs point to the Crown Plaza, which would be great). So $170 (before taxes) would be the max, but I would love to save even more if possible using PRICELINE.Thanks,mbryant25
mbryant25 Posted June 8, 2009 Author Report Posted June 8, 2009 Hey guys,I'm looking for a hotel in Midtown NYC and saw the above listed at Hotwire.com. Is this a good price for our time frame? Any idea about which hotel this might be? Here are the amenities listed:Fitness CenterRestaurant(s)Business CenterHigh-Speed Internet AccessIt also has 3.5 out of 5 on trip advisor base on 460+ reviews. Any thoughts?Could we (2 adults) get a better deal if we did 4* in Time Sq. using priceline? We prefer Time Square, but other Midtown locations would be acceptable if the price was right. Also what if we want to get two double bed, could we call the winning hotel and make arrangements for this? Thanks guys,mbryant25
AaronJB Posted June 8, 2009 Report Posted June 8, 2009 If you look on HOTWIRE for 2 adults you will not be guaranteed 2 beds, and in a city like NYC where rooms with 2 beds are limited, your chances of requesting 2 beds and getting 2 beds is slight at best. PRICELINE definitely does not guarantee 2 beds. The HOTWIRE price doesn't seem like that great a deal to me, either. There are some very good deals on regular rate properties. W The Court (a 4*) on Orbitz.com is on sale for $153.48 for an upgraded spectacular room. Use coupon code deal0hotel for 10% off = $138.14 per night. You could get a suite at that hotel for $206.86 - 10% for the deal0hotel coupon = $186 and change. There are quite a few 4*s regular rate that are less than the HOTWIRE offering on Orbitz. Please use the site's Orbitz.com or HOTWIRE.com links.
