Priceline Hotel: Priceline and visa applications

Hi,

I'll be applying for a visit visa to go to the United Kingdom. Part of the documentation that I'll be required to carry/send to the British consulate will be proof of reservations for hotels in London. Since priceline is not like a typical hotel reservation software and purchases hotel rooms if they are available for a bid, how can I secure a refund in case my visa application is refused? Will the insurance offered by priceline cover this scenario?

thanks.

Why don't you just do a cancellable reservation for a hotel in London via one of the usual travel sites (or hotel group sites). You can still cancel after you get the visa and try to book via PL.

On 2nd thought - is it legally okay to do this??

If i use a cancellable reservation for a London hotel through a non-Priceline method and then cancel after the visa is obtained and use priceline, isn't it like lying on the visa application??

You're not lying. You will be staying at this hotel if you don't get anything on Priceline. Plans change all the time, and immigration officials surely know that reservations may be cancelled.

When you land in London, you will likely fill out a landing card where you could print your new hotel info, or you will be able to tell the immigration officer where you will be staying.
