Tazzie Boy Posted June 7, 2009 Report Posted June 7, 2009 My wife and I are celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and are taking a trip from New Zealand to tour round California. We are flying into LA late on 10th July and are staying in an airport hotel overnight. I have been checking priceline and hotwire for rental cars and have found it a lot more expensive to hire from airport locations than from suburban locations. We are on a limited budget and would prefer to spend our money on attractions and accommodation than car hire. Any tips about hire locations, shuttles etc would be appreciated. I have bid $20/day for LAX on priceline rejected. Hire period 07/11/09 to 07/24/09.Is renting from LAX the best solution or does anyone have a better idea.
chen Posted June 8, 2009 Report Posted June 8, 2009 LAX is generally a good place to rent a car and the rates typically go down the closer you get to your arrival date. However, your dates may pose difficulties because it's peak season. I would book something now that you can cancel and start bidding about a week before your trip. By the way, what size rental are you looking for?
