Kickingleaves Posted June 5, 2009 Author Report Posted June 5, 2009 I am! it comes to 73 after taxes and etc.
AaronJB Posted June 5, 2009 Report Posted June 5, 2009 I'm seeing this come up for $59. I'm going to guess that it's the Inn of Chicago. The Cass (now the Holiday Inn Express Cass) comes up w/breakfast (or at least it has recently.)Personally, I'd rather recommend bidding on PRICELINE for this date than paying $59 for what could be the Inn of Chicago. Is that something you would be interested in? Are you only interested in staying in the Mag Mile area or would you mind the Loop?
Kickingleaves Posted June 5, 2009 Author Report Posted June 5, 2009 Eek, okay. The loop too.Really, anything up to 100 a night before fees and etc.Something fun I guess.(We're staying with a friend for the rest of the weekend... Might as well make one night worth it!
thereuare Posted June 5, 2009 Report Posted June 5, 2009 Really, anything up to 100 a night before fees and etc.Did you want to try for a 4* hotel first OR are you looking for the least expensive 3* (or 3.5*) or better hotel for this nite? The loop too... Something fun I guess. The Loop gets a bit quiet at nite and the NMA area has move options for nightlife, restaurants, etc. Not really sure what you're looking for, but figured i'd metnion the above so you can confirm if the Loop is something that you want or not.Let us know and we'll advise according. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. AaronJB Posted June 5, 2009 Report Posted June 5, 2009 The Loop is generally not a first choice from a tourist perspective, but I think in this case, I'm suggesting it because if the original poster is going to the Pitchfork Festival, which is to the West of the Loop and (I believe) most easily accessed by the Green Line CTA. Green Line stations are near many Loop hotels, where they would be more of a walk from the Mag Mile.
Kickingleaves Posted June 5, 2009 Author Report Posted June 5, 2009 I don't really care that much where I am, as long as it's central.I'm a Torontonian who lives as a pedestrian and on public transit. We're friends. And Chicago really reminds me of Toronto.Anyway.I was just hoping that cheap one was Cass, because Cass looks kinda funky, and has free breakfast. But, something fun and funky, doens't really matter where, just prefer to be centrally located. It's for one night, and the rest of the time we're staying closer to the actual festival with a friend.
thereuare Posted June 6, 2009 Report Posted June 6, 2009 ...as long as it's central. The 'problem' is that Central means different things to different people... i'm sure you walk places/distances and don't think twice about it whereas others may think it's entirely too far :) Please look at the PRICELINE zone(s) and let us know whic one(s) you're willing to accept, from there we'll be able to suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. AaronJB Posted June 6, 2009 Report Posted June 6, 2009 The Cass is a former 1* (2* tops; it got pretty good reviews, but was definitely a very basic hotel) budget property that was renovated and turned into the HI.There is a 4* in the Loop (fitness, business, restaurant, pool, internet) for $82, which is likely the Palmer. That could not be more convenient to the "L" station. If you want to bid for a 4* for the area (Millennium Park-Loop-Grant Park) on PRICELINE, I would bid $60.There is a 4.5* Mag Mile/Streeterville with fitness, business, restaurant, internet for $107, which would likely be the Intercontinental, which is a very nice hotel, although on the other hand, it's less convenient.Personally, given that this is a one-night stay, I'd go with either the Palmer (the "L" train you would need, I believe, to get to the concert, is the next block South of the hotel) or bidding on the Millennium/Loop/Grant area on PRICELINE.
Kickingleaves Posted February 11, 2011 Author Report Posted February 11, 2011 I didn't book with HOTWIRE, I stayed with a friend.
