Priceline Hotel: 3.5-4* hotel NYC - 12th - 16th June on pricelines

Hey!

So I've got a week until we fly into NY and unfortunately the friends place I had arranged to stay has gone a bit pear shaped!

We're spending 4 nights in New York, have no particular requirements for where we stay except that we have friends in Brooklyn and The Bronx who we'd like to be able to see reasonably regularly during the trip. I'd much rather stay in Manhattan though, just with those locations in mind that we will be visiting at some point.

I was thinking I probably wouldn't be going lower than 3.5.* My absolute budget is up to $800 but I'd rather spend half that or even less!

I'm finding it a bit hard to follow all these threads, as I'm in the UK I think I can probably only use priceline - when people are mentioning how much they're bidding are they usually referring to a rate per night or for their entire trip?

I think I get the jist of how it works on priceline, I've read some reviews too, what I'd like to know is what I could realistically expect to be bidding for the whole trip price and what people would recommend for my lowest bid (which on the UK site is for the rate per night). That and what I should click for my location options!
