I guess this is the problem with PRICELINE. I'm not sure how a hotel across the river is still considered Cambridge. It is going to be a very inconvenient week. I wish I had the luck of the people who got the Marriott!

Sorry to hear you're disappointed in the results, but i'm not sure how much of a "problem" this is with PRICELINE or how much "luck" had to do with it... you need to do a little homework/research before bidding.

Did you look at the boundaries of the zone before you bid? You need to be willing to accept a hotel anywhere within the shaded boundaries of the zone. As well, if you looked at the Priceline Hotel List here you would see that the Doubletree has previously been reported in this zone, so it was a possibility.

If there is a specific area in the zone you're trying to target, or a hotel you're trying to avoid, HOTWIRE may be a better option as there you can at least take an educated guess as to what you might get before your purchase. Feel free to ask for help before your next hotel purchase.

I'm not sure where in Cambridge you need to be, but hopefully it's on the same metro line that is close to this property and it won't turn out to be as inconvenient as you think.

It was within the boundaries but with the other recent posts of people who got the Marriott, it was a risk I was willing to take. According to the hotel website, they are a mile from the closest subway station so I will be using a cab, but with the money I will be saving, that is OK. I did use your PRICELINE link. Thanks for a great site.
