merry22 Posted May 18, 2009 Report Posted May 18, 2009 We will be traveling to Boston from 06/06 - 06/09. We have not traveled much at all, and now our large brood consists of 3 adult children, my husband and myself. Would the advice of the group be to get 2 rooms or a suite? How should I initiate a search? We are looking to be right in downtown and are hoping for 4* accommodations. Any advice is greatly appreciated!
AaronJB Posted May 18, 2009 Report Posted May 18, 2009 Welcome to the site. :)What would be your budget per night for hotel?
merry22 Posted May 18, 2009 Author Report Posted May 18, 2009 I feel kind of silly saying this, but I haven't one yet. I was embarking on finding out the cost of stays in Boston and getting the best deal. I haven't gotten beyond that. Thanks for being my welcoming committee.... :)
thereuare Posted May 18, 2009 Report Posted May 18, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding!PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, so unless you're willing to risk both rooms only having one bed, that may not be an option for you.HOTWIRE does allow you to search for up to quad occupancy per room, so you could begin your search there for 2rooms/2adults/3children (assuming your children are 17 years old or under, the current classification of 'child' according to HOTWIRE) From there you can see if any hotels meet your criteria for a 4* hotel in one of the downtown areas and try to identify it (we can help you try to it it and/or confirm what you believe you're being offered). From there you can take a look at the hotel direct price for the hotel you believe you are considering purchasing to see if it's much of a deal and/or compare to the hotel direct price of other hotels to make sure this is your best deal. You can use our BetterChecker to assist in your hotel direct rate search. So starting from the top, if you search HOTWIRE for 2rooms/2adults/3children is there anything that meets your criteria and/or budget? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. merry22 Posted June 2, 2009 Author Report Posted June 2, 2009 Because of this Priceline Boston Cambridge thread, I went ahead and did a search exactly as that one. I, too, won the Marriott Cambridge - Boston 06/06 - 06/09. Two rooms total. I bid $75 per room! Thanks and have a good time...perhaps we'll pass you in our travels!
merry22 Posted June 2, 2009 Author Report Posted June 2, 2009 Hello-I've just made my first reservation using the PRICELINE link. After my winning bid was confirmed, I noticed a "Travel Insurance" charge of $30. As I was not sure what this charge is insuring, I called the Priceline number and was met w/an automated customer service prompt. Can anyone explain to me what this charge is for, and if it is an optional charge for future bookings....THANKS!Merry- :)
thereuare Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding!Congratulations on your success and thank you for sharing your results with the board. The $30 charge is an optional $5/day insurance ($5/day x 3 nites x 2 rooms = $30) which you must have accidentally checkmarked during your purchase.Glad the previous post and information here was helpful with your bidding. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Enjoy your stay.
