tilepusher Posted June 3, 2009 Report Posted June 3, 2009 You mentioned in your other post that this is an overnight stop on your way back to Calgary. Kelowna is a popular vacation spot during the summer and hotel rates tend to be very high at that time. If you're planning to spend some time in Kelowna, that's fine, but if you're just looking for a place to sleep, I would stay elsewhere.I would be very wary of bidding for a 1* on PRICELINE (and I often advise against bidding for a 2*). The savings usually don't justify giving up the ability to choose your hotel or cancel your reservation. I think you're only chance of getting a deal on Priceline in this case is to hope that tourism in Kelowna is down sharply this year, but even then you probably won't find deals on PRICELINE until the last minute, if at all.

I have reserved 3 rooms at the Best Western Villager Motor Inn in Vernon directly thru the hotel for $125 CAD/night + tax. This way we can cancel them with no charge if we find a better deal either from Priceline or Hotwire later. We plan to spend some time around Kelowna city, maybe just an afternoon. If we can find anything better, Vernon is only 45 min away.
