stevecastle845 Posted October 6, 2004 Report Posted October 6, 2004 I am going to be in New Orleans december 4 & 5, 6 . Never been there before and don't have a clue where to stay or even what area I might want to stay. Probably downtown or French quarter. Any suggestions would be appreciated
swag Posted October 6, 2004 Report Posted October 6, 2004 As a first timer, going as a tourist, your first choice is the French Quarter. Alternatives include downtown (split into Convention Center and Central Business zones on Priceline), which is walkable to the Quarter; and the quieter Garden District, which is a streetcar ride away. For any of these areas, you probably don't need a car. Just bring comfortable walking shoes. Besides the streetcars, taxis are plentiful and affordable. And parking downtown and in the Quarter is expensive; expect to pay $20-30/night at hotels there.Hotels in other areas, like the airport, are much cheaper, but probably not worth the inconvenience.
thereuare Posted October 6, 2004 Report Posted October 6, 2004 Swag knows the city well and if i were returning to New Orleans (which i soon hope to) i would most likely be looking at the French Quarter and/or Central Business District.Let us know what you decide regarding zone selection and if you have a maximum bid amount in mind... we'll then suggest a strategy to follow.
