Priceline Hotel: 4* NYC (MTE) Bidding Help

Hi everybody

was successful at bidding for a 4* in ESB for 7/24 - 7/28 (120$, Morgans).

Now looking for 4* in MTE for the remaining 3 nights.

I would love to get the Hyatt or Barclay at around 120$ or the Parker Meridien in CPS.

I tried yesterday up to 120$ and failed.

Do you think it is likely that I am more successful with bidding later on? Or is it unlikely that prices go down? What are the reasons that prices increase in the middle of the week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday)? At what price would I succeed now- around 140$ or even higher??

Would love some help and ideas. Thanks.

Nice job with Morgans (free breakfast, and a nice boutique.)

Out of curiosity, did you try the "extend your stay" function to see if you could grab the Morgans for the remaining stay for the same price? (What appears to be Morgans is showing for $159 for the remaining dates, so you may be able to extend your stay for a similar price.)

Regular rates do not seem very high on these dates (Grand Hyatt in MTE = $208 regular rate), so I wouldn't ramp up bidding too quickly. I'd try next at $125.

Yes, they offered me additional nights (159$) at Morgans, but I declined. Too expensive.

I guess I will try MTE up to 120$ the next days to see how it goes. The Hyatt usually comes up with fairly low prices rather close to the dates. Maybe I am lucky.
