betsban Posted May 30, 2009 Report Posted May 30, 2009 First leg of a California vacation, three days in LA for a graduation.Using the PRICELINE link provided here, my first bid was 50 dollars, tried higher stars but got a 3 star Wyndham I was happy about until I read the reviews. I hope it's better than people have stated.3* Wyndham (Costa Mesa - Irvine) $50 ... 6/15/09-6/18/09
thereuare Posted May 30, 2009 Report Posted May 30, 2009 Thank you for sharing your results with the board.Sorry to hear you're a little disappointed with the results, but most of the negative reviews appear to have to deal with costs (internet, parking, bottled water, phone calls, etc) which i've just come to expect from hotels. As well, many of these reviewer are likely paying "full rate" which may make the additional costs a little more difficult to bear, as well, the high room cost comes with certain expectations which may not be met. At $50/nite hopefully it makes any additional expenses associated with your stay a little more tolerable and you can overlook any shortcomings.I've had plenty of PRICELINE stays where it was a great deal based upon the price paid, but if i was paying full rate ($134/nite in your case for these dates) i woudl have been disappointed.... i think for you this may be one of those stays.Thank you for sharing your win with the board and using our PRICLINE link to begin your bidding.Hope you enjoy your stay an it goes better than you expect. betsban Posted May 30, 2009 Author Report Posted May 30, 2009 Thank you for your response. I am not actually concerned with the parking fees (which I expected in LA), or internet. We can go to a Starbucks to check out email. I never buy the bottled water or anything from the mini-fridge so that's nothing of consequence to me.I was referring to reviews talking about the cleanliness of the place. There was something I clicked on with pictures from a reviewer saying, call the health department. That does not thrill me, but I spose thats the chance you take and as you said, $50 a night, we'll deal with it.The hotel is probably older and dated, although the pictures on the website look very nice. Not a huge deal, just a bit disappointing.Whatever happens, I'll be happy with my winning bid of $50 a night.... (unless there are bedbugs!! hahaa!)
