I discovered Hotwire about a year ago. :) I was intrigued by the concept & began "targeting" hotels in cities where I was very familiar with (or more correctly have lived in). I experience phenomenal success using my own powers of deduction & local knowledge. I have recently began planning trips to cities that I'm either not so familiar with, or have never been to.

I was so delighted to find your website. About a month ago I began searching for additional information to help me book my trip to Hawaii...one of only two states I've never set foot in (excitement doesn't even begin to describe it). I have learned new insights & tips on how to maximize my "satisfaction" with my Hotwire wins. I have also learned a lot more about Priceline...which I have to admit I'm not so comfortable with. (Unless you could help me with a Westin Moana Surfrider bidding stragegy :) ...but I know there is no "true" way to target Priceline hotels). Are there any tips on securing a room that's not in the half-flooded basement of the hotel?.... Does "The $20 Dollar Trick" work in Hawaii & with opaque reservation? (I know, no guarantee...but practically speaking)

I hope you can help me with my upcoming itinerary. My flights are already booked & are unlikely to change. I will post questions regarding the other leg of my trip in the appropriate forum.

I would like to say thank you in advance.

Triple P

P.S. Would wins from my previous trips before I found your website be of interest to you? (Seattle, San Francisco, Detroit, D.C., Minneapolis, Pittsburgh, & New Jersey) Where & how do I submit such info?

Welcome to BetterBidding!

The Sheraton Waikiki has previously been reported with this amenity combination so that would be our best guess. I know the Tripadvisor info provided by HOTWIRE for this offering shows a few more reivews than are currently showing at Tripadvisor itself, and this does cast a shadow of doubt for this ID, but they're very close and sometimes we do see one number slightly incosistent with the other, so the Sheraton Waikiki would still be our best guess.

Since this is an extended stay you could see if this property appears for the first (or last) nite of your stay and then again for the balance. If so, you could purchase the solo nite in order to 'look behind the curtain'... if you're happy with the results move forward and purchase the remainder of your stay, if not, make alternate plans for the balance of your trip.

Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help.

PS- i would think the $20 trick has a decent chance of working anywhere there is a 'tipping culture' as exists in the States.

PPS- if you have previous wins which have not yet been reported to the board please add them, otherwise you can just post your future wins and/or previous wins for which the stay has not yet occured (so the info can help others who may be traveling to the same place in the future)

Curious about $20 trick. Is this a bribe at check-in for an upgrade or just an offer of an additional $20per night for an upgrade? Newbie here, so please forgive if this is a dumb question.
