I'll be attending a convention at the Marriott and need some bidding advice on how to try and get this hotel. I see the Hyatt Regency popping up here quite often but it would be more ideal for us to stay where the conference is being held.

The conference rate is $129 so if that's my only option, I'll go to the Regency.

Dates are Oct 05 - 07 and I'm booking for two people for two nights each.

thanks.

Good to 'see' you again.

Don't know if you saw this post that was in a similar situation looking for the ANAHEIM MARRIOTT for a convention.

In that thread it was discussed that the Marriott may only appear for bids over $40.... and this zone usually goes failry inexpensively. Although rates at some hotels (like the Hyatt) are a bit higher than usual, i think you'll successful at less than that. You could try to bid $40+ in hopes of getting the Marriott, but with so many hotels in this area you'll more than likely get a different hotel and have paid too much :) . This thread discusses this in more detail: DON'T BID HIGHER FOR A SPECIFIC HOTEL)

Realize that the DoubleTree is also a possibility (i think about 3 miles from the Marriott... according to mapquest) as well as a few others.

When bidding 3* in this area you have three RE-BIDS available (if you need help figuring out or want to confirm your re-bids feel free to do so). This is how i would proceed:

Select 3* Disneyland and....

Bid $25, if rejected add re-bid zone and...

Bid $28, if rejected add re-bid zone and...

Bid $31, if rejected add re-bid zone and...

Bid $33.

Feel free to ask any questions you may have and good luck. Let us know how it goes.

My colleague and I had to be in Anaheim tomorrow for a convention being held at the Anaheim Convention Ctr. I couldn't afford to mess around so from reading the board figured a $40 bid would get me the Hyatt Regency which is about 1 mile away from where I needed to be.

That was workable so I went to SavingsBarn.com and entered my Priceline bid for $40 and was rejected. I turned down the offer from Priceline to try again with a $12 increment and went back and added Seal Beach and bid $45.

I got the Hilton Anaheim right next door to the convention ctr. Couldn't have asked for anything better except for the Marriott which is where my event is being held. Best rate I could get with my AAA card at the Hilton was was $92 so I'm not complaining.

I haven't seen this hotel on the list so here's the link to it:

Oh, my colleague needs to stay one more night so we'll see if we can get him the same rate for the 2nd night. Any tips on how to do that?

Thanks for all the help.

Thank you for the support of using our prefered links to place your bid and for helping to add another hotel to the list.

Sounds like you got a great deal and the location works out perfectly for you. It's great when a plan works out better than expected.

As far as adding a nite for your collegue...

Priceline has an "Add a Nite" feature which you can ask to add another nite onto your hotel stay (and be assured of the same hotel). However, last time a user checked you could only add a nite for the same number of rooms that your original reservation was booked for. So if the above win was for two rooms that you bid at the same time, i don't think you will be able to utilize this feature.

I just did a Hotwire search for you additional date (i asumed the nite of the 6th) and didn't see anything that matched this property, so that doesn't seem like a viable option.

Fortunately the hotel direct rates are the same for your subsequent nite as they are for your booked nite. I would therefore try making the same $45. Based upon your bid history there is a chance that a bid between $41-$44 would also be accepted, but i woudlnt' chance that in this instance since doing so may increase the chances of you receiving a different hotel (ie- if the Hyatt's lowest rate is $45 and another hotel's lowest rate is $43, a bid of $44 would 'force' you into the alternate $43 hotel).

Good Luck and let us know how it goes with the additional nite. Any additional questions feel free to ask.

Thanks again for your support. :)

I submitted a report under HOTEL REVIEW for the Anaheim Hilton but I wanted everyone who viewed this to know that the hotel stay was exemplary for the price. The front desk staff was incredibly helpful, the room was great, and the proximity to the Convention Ctr and to Disneyland is fantastic.

I'd highly recommend the hotel at these kind of rates.
