We are stopping in New York as part of our honeymoon and would love to get a great deal on a good hotel in New York. I am happy to pay up to $225 a night for the room though the cheaper the better

Slightly above your max would be two 4*'s on HOTWIRE, including a 4* in Midtown E (fitness, business, restaurant, internet amenities) for $232 (likely the Omni Berkshire) and a 4* for $233 in the Times Square/Theatre District area with the same amenities (likely the Crowne Plaza TS.) The Omni Berkshire is a well-reviewed property, and may be worth paying a bit more for instead of a less predictable PRICELINE bid.

These are busy dates, but I think you could potentially get a 4* for $175 in one of the Midtown (MTC, MTE, MTW, Times Square/Theatre District) for these dates.
