jodi06
Hi I am looking at a hotel in Philly 29 October to 3 November. Yesterday it was $99.00 and today it is $93.00. A hotel I booked yesterday in New York has been reduced from $116.00 to $114.00. Is there any logic to how Hotwire rates work? Are they formulated to drop to a pre-established rate then dissappear? Will they go up tomorrow? Or is there no answer? I might as a total waste of time track the price and see what happens but I do need to book at some stage. any comments would be appreciated.Jodi Link to comment
yellowdog
Not at the rates you list. A few Dollars up/down is just normal for HOTWIRE. Everything is about revenue. They have no pre-set dates for rates. The hotel you look at can be $30 more expensive tomorrow if they get a big booking. And it can also drop in price closer to your date. There is no good answer to this. Please look at this link: Should i Bid Early or Close to Arrival Date Yellowdog. Link to comment

joealx
I posted my purchase at Ohio. I paid $59 for seven nights. total was $451.80. The tax and fees totaled $59.28 The tax rate is 15.25%, so the tax was supposed to be $59.78. I thought how does Hotwire make a profit? When I got to the hotel,I noticed Hotwire paid $43.60. $43.60x7x15.25% is $351.74. Subtract 451.80 from 351.74=$100.06.I guess I found out how Hotwire makes a profit! Link to comment
