I would think that this is more likely than not the Crowne Plaza, but can't say with too high a degree of confidence... the differnece in Tripadvisor rating can be 'explained' by the last review for the Crowne Plaza being low, and bringing the 4.0 that HOTWIRE is showing (which is just a recent snapshot in time) down to the 3.5 that Tripadvisor is currently showing. However, the Crowne Plaza was just reported 2 weeks ago here: Crowne Plaza Silver Springs without a Hi-Speed Internet icon. I'd feel more confident if the last report was not so recent as it would give more time for the Internet icon to have been added, but obviously it has to be added at some piont in time, so it could have been in the last two weeks.

Not sure of your budget, but a little higher in price at $109 is a 4.5* in the Dupont Circle zone with Boutique, Restaurant, Ftiness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business and Spa for which out best guess is the Madison Loews. While recent reviews have been mixed (most complain of the price, which at the HOTWIRE rate, isn't as much of a detriment) it does have an overall TA rating of 4.0/5.0 and puts you in the city itself and i would probably give that a shot given the star rating, the Loews brand, and the overall TA rating. Since the metro is a 'pay per distance' system (the furhter out you are the more it costs to ride) you'd save a little on commuting costs as well, which would reduce the added expense a little of the higher hotel room cost (ie- i don't know the costs, but if it's $2.50 more from Bethesda to DC, for two poeple that's an extra $10 in commuting, bringing the 'real' cost of the 4.5* property above only an extra $20/nite)

Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help.

:) Booked Madison thanks for the advice, I am sure we will be happier closer to the city.

Price had dropped to $106 per night which was even better.

To book this hotel from a travel agent in Australia it is $478Aud -$366 US per night!

Congratulations on your success!

Glad to see you received the hotel you were hoping for and you're happy with the results... we're happy to have helped. For the extra money vs. the hotel you were considering I think this is a good 'ugprade' for the convenience and higher star rating. (and the savings are great!)
