MPileggi Posted October 1, 2004 Report Posted October 1, 2004 Good morning,This is my first posting on this web site. I just wanted to post my winning bid for my London stay next May:Thistle Charing Cross****Your Offer Price: $100.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 4 Travel Insurance: $20.00 Subtotal: $420.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $81.69 Total Charges: $501.69 I had started with Mayfair/Soho @ $90; then $100 adding Southbank. I added the $5/day for cancellation insurance. Also, when I did my hotel search, Thistle's lowest price was $306, so I feel I did very well. Good reviews on Trip Advisor and excellent location in London.I hope this helps others. Thanks,Monica :)
Chris26WI Posted October 1, 2004 Report Posted October 1, 2004 You're bidding far ahead.. but why not.. - Adding zones and highering your bid in the same time may cause an overbid, by the way. But however, apparently you got a good deal anway. The cancellation insurance offered in Priceline US is only for cases of sickness etc., right? But not if you just cancel or change your travel plans?
thereuare Posted October 1, 2004 Report Posted October 1, 2004 Welcome to BetterBidding!Chris, the highest rated hotel in the southbank zone is 3* so adding that zone was fine and a legitimate RE-BID.I don't use the insurance so i'd have to look a bit closer, but i think it may also cover you if your flight is cancelled and a few other circumstances, but it does not cover you for "i changed my mind."Thanks for posting and sharing your win with the board.Enjoy your stay. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
MPileggi Posted October 1, 2004 Author Report Posted October 1, 2004 I chose to add insurance because of my Mother's health and it covers sickness. I didn't read up on the other portions of the insurance, but I believe it covers travel in some way. You can go to priceline and print out their cancellation policy document - just go up to the point of adding your bid and click on the cancellation policy button and print out.I bid way in advance because my flight tickets are confirmed and I have firm dates for London. I don't think I would have gotten that much of a lower price for Mayfair. My feeling was I wanted a hotel for $100 and got one. And for London, $100 for a 4* hotel is a great offer. Monica
