mdl131 Posted May 21, 2009 Report Posted May 21, 2009 I am brand new to hotwire, priceline, and this website so I am sorry if I am confusing! I would like to stay in the Intercontinental Hotel, check in on Sat. 6/6/09 and check out 6/7/09 for 3 adults for a wedding that at the nearby Boston Harbor Hotel. I found a 4.5* hotel on hotwire that has all the listed amenities that you said could describe that hotel, at the price of $198 per night. Do you think it is the Intercontinental?I know someone who got a room there for $100 so I am also interested in bidding on priceline. How do you suggest I do that since I have a particular hotel in mind? Are there any other ones within walking distance from the BHH that you can suggest? Thanks for your help!
AaronJB Posted May 21, 2009 Report Posted May 21, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding!Keep in mind that while someone may have gotten the Intercontinental for $100 on PRICELINE, there are two issues:Did they get it for the same dates as you are going? If not, then you cannot consider that, as PRICELINE rates are date-specific - unless they have it for the same dates, it's not a good indicator. Additionally, keep in mind that PRICELINE is not an optimal choice for trying to get a specific hotel - if you bid for a 4* in the zone where the Intercontinental is, you could potentially get any of the 4*'s in that area.In terms of HOTWIRE, what are the exact amenities you are seeing? Please use the site's HOTWIRE and PRICELINE links to start your purchase when you do decide to book.
mdl131 Posted May 22, 2009 Author Report Posted May 22, 2009 Yes the person got the room for $100 for the same night that I am trying for. But she booked it a few weeks ago so I figured I would not get as good a deal since I waited til the last minute. The amenities shown on hotwire are smoke free, fitness center, pool, restaurants, business center, high speed internet, and spa.
thereuare Posted May 22, 2009 Report Posted May 22, 2009 The HOTWIRE property above matches the amenities for both the Inter-Continental as well as the Langham, so either of these would be our best guess, and no way to tell prior to purchase which one is more likely than the other. Also, keep in mind if you do go with PRICELINE, they only guarantee double occupancy, after that it's at the descretion of the hotel. You could receive a room with only bed and they may not be able, or willing, to change it to one with two beds. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. mdl131 Posted May 22, 2009 Author Report Posted May 22, 2009 I went to book the one I was talking about earlier and it was already gone, but that's ok. I ended up getting the Hilton Boston Financial District for $149 which is totally fine with me because it is not too far away from the wedding either and was cheaper. Thanks for your help! :)
