Badmonkey Posted May 21, 2009 Report Posted May 21, 2009 Greeting all,I decided to add another night to the front end of my trip to NYC and Connecticut and landed the Grand Hyatt at Grand Central Terminal for $105 on my first bid in Mid-Town East. This came in lower than I expected. If anyone has recommendations for cheap eats in the area, be it street food, pizza, or whatever else, I'd love to hear them. Thanks again.
thereuare Posted May 22, 2009 Report Posted May 22, 2009 Congratulations on your success and thank you for sharing your results with the board. Not super convenient, but not totally inconvenient either, is this ... best $6 meal you can get in the city. NOTE: 7:30pm-4am located on the SouthWest corner of 53rd St and Sixth Ave (it'll be the one with the long line)... put on one container of white sauce, then add the hot sauce sparingly, mix it all up, then add more white/hot sauce to tasteJackson Hotel Wymoming: good, HUGE, burgers... nothing fancy and service/comfort level of the place can be hit or miss, but the burgers are always dead on and makes for a good sitdown meal at the "under $10" price point (Third Ave at 35th St)Ess-A-Bagel: one of the best bagels in the city and good, inexpensive, breakfast (Third Ave at 51st St)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Enjoy your stay. NYCityGuy Posted May 22, 2009 Report Posted May 22, 2009 Enjoy NYC - it's the land of the expensive restaurant! There are hidden gems though that serve cheap food...I'd recommend the Crocodile Lounge on 14th St, which gives you a free pizza with every beer ordered, or 2 Bros Pizza at St. Mark's Place, for $1 decent slices of pizza.Have fun!
Badmonkey Posted June 13, 2009 Author Report Posted June 13, 2009 Thanks to both of you for the helpful suggestions. I found the rice and lamb cart and had a very tasty meal. My time in the city was too limited to explore very much, so I very much look forward to visiting in the fall and sinking my teeth in a little deeper. Great city!
