hayes Posted May 21, 2009 Report Posted May 21, 2009 Hi. My name is hayes and I'm a complete price line n00b and a last minute planner.Looking for a hotel near Fenway Park - would like to end up in priceline's Cambridge and Brookline zones, but not too picky.Max bid $100.00I'm more concerned with a decent hotel than absolute lowest price, wondering if I should up to 4*?Thanks in advance - I'm all registered with PRICELINE and ready to use your links. Glad someone hipped me to your existence!Cheers, hayes
thereuare Posted May 21, 2009 Report Posted May 21, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding! The Cambridge zone has 3*, 3.5*, and 4* properties... the Brookline zone only goes as high as 3*.It doesn't look like there is too much inventory for these dates, but let us know once you decide if you want to first try for a 4* hotel up to your limit before lowering your star rating or if you'd prefer to try for the least expensive 3* or better in either of the two zones you've indicated and we'll advise accordingly. Thanks for using our PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your purchases. hayes Posted May 21, 2009 Author Report Posted May 21, 2009 Guess I'll start with the four star. Thanks!
thereuare Posted May 21, 2009 Report Posted May 21, 2009 At the 4* level you have FOUR re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 4* Cambridge...Bid $65, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $70, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $75, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $80, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Cambridge and re-bid zone4...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $100Any questions feel free to ask. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. hayes Posted May 21, 2009 Author Report Posted May 21, 2009 ok,I used the link here and bid 65.00 on cambridge zone. - rejected.I then added the Fenway zone and upped my bid to 70.00 - rejected.Instead of bringing me back to re-adjust the parameters it posted this:Thank You for Naming Your Own Price
thereuare Posted May 22, 2009 Report Posted May 22, 2009 Yes, you'll need to go back to PRICELINE and pick up where you left off.Although not the intention when created, if you use the search box on the top right corner of the board, you'll be taken to the PRICELINE page where you select the zones. If a rejected bid takes you the "retail" portion of their site so you need to start over again, it's easy to return to the top right corner of this page where all the information pertaining to your search (city and dates) is already filled-in, so you can resume by just clicking the GO button once again without having to re-enter all your info once again. Thanks for using our PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links :)Good luck and keep us updated. hayes Posted August 25, 2009 Author Report Posted August 25, 2009 Hi - Sorry I didn't follow up before - I was unsuccessful, but I think it had more to do with the holiday weekend than the methodology. Boston was just pretty booked up. I tried a myriad of combinations. Thanks again for your input.
