Priceline Hotel: Resort Orlando (WDW) Marriott Orlando World Center

Using the PRICELINE link on this website, my $89 bid was accepted by the Marriott Orlando World Center for two nights 5-23-09 through 5-25-09. I incrementally increased my bid by $2 until it was accepted by adding zones but not changing the resort selection. I have previously stayed at this resort and it was great. The total cost for a two night stay over Memorial Day weekend (included tax and fee) is $210. This is considerably lower than the cheapest room on Marriott's webpage which is $423 including tax.

New to the post. Using priceline for the first time. I hope this isn't a stupid question. What area of Orlanda is guaranteed the Marriott Orlando World Center? How did you keep raising the bid without changing the resort? I am trying to get this resort (they say it's sold out) in January for my college age son who is attending a convention there. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

With PRICELINE you can't bid on a specific hotel, you need to be willing to accept any hotel at the minimum star rating (or higher) in the zone that you choose. While we have seen wins at hotels that were otherwise showing sold-out, the odds of receiving it are greatly reduced when the hotel's own website is showing no availability.
