jimmy0999 Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 We are a family of 4 = 2 adults and 2 children visiting dc. We are coming from the New England area. Before we serch for hotels, we must know what areas to look in. I've looked in Alexandria, VA but my husband said that the location is too south of dc. Thanks.
AaronJB Posted May 19, 2009 Report Posted May 19, 2009 Welcome to the site. What is your budget per night for hotel, and which dates are you looking at for visiting DC?
thereuare Posted May 20, 2009 Report Posted May 20, 2009 ... also are you looking at PRICELINE or HOTWIRE? (so we know which zones to comment on, since each uses diffrent name and/or boundaries)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
jimmy0999 Posted May 20, 2009 Author Report Posted May 20, 2009 We'd like to stay within the $100 per night rate.Dates are 6/24-6/28.We can use either site.
thereuare Posted May 20, 2009 Report Posted May 20, 2009 It sounds as if you're looking for one room for the four of you, so you need to be aware that if you use PRICELINE they only guarnatee double occupanyc... after that it's at the descrection of the hotel. You could receive a room with only one bed, and the hotel may be unable, or unwilling, to move you to a room with two beds. (and if they are willing/able, there could be an additional fee) Not sure if this is a risk you're willing to take or not.HOTWIRE would still be an option as they allow you to search for up to quad occupancy. However, when searching HOTWIRE for your dates and 2adults/2children, everything within the 'popular' zones (Dupont Circle/Embassy Row and White House/Capitol Hill) is well over your $100 budget. It would appear that at the moment you'll either need to adjust your budget or be willing to stay outside of the city limits. If you do choose to stay outside of the city limits, HOTWIRE does currently have a 4* hotel for 2adults/2chidlren with a very good Tripadvisor user reviw of 4.5/5.0 for $99/nite... this property has not yet been identified (a guess would be the Hotel Monaco or the Morrison House) but with such overwhelmingly positive reviews i wouldn't be too concerned about quality (but would be a little concerned re: metro access)Let us know your thought and how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. jimmy0999 Posted May 29, 2009 Author Report Posted May 29, 2009 Thanks to all for your help. Thru Priceline, got 3 star hotel in Silver Springs for $57 per night. Hotel, Courtyard Silver Spring North, is a little far from DC but we'll make it due. Awesome price, looks like a nice place.
