I was planning a trip to New York for 6-11 to 6-14, hoping to visit Times Square, Broadway, Fifth Avenue Shopping, the Rockefeller Center, and Central Park. I had bid up to $155 a night for 4* Times Square and $140 for MTE or CPS and a few other areas.

I had no luck, and eventually decided that the night of 6-11 was holding me back more than the other dates. Bidding only on 6-12 to 6-14 I was able to land the Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers (4* - MTW) for $110 plus taxes ($108 was rejected). For a few more days I bid up to $145 on CPS, $155 on TS, $140 on MTE, etc... and had no luck. I broke down and went 3.5 stars in the Madison Square Garden area, and was able to the land the Affinia Manhattan with my first bid for $96, (I may have been able to get it cheaper). It is not exactly where I want to be, but I was very happy with the price.

I was inches away from booking the Crowne Plaza, Soitel, or Loew's Regency through other means for $229+ after taxes.

I had considered the Marcel at Gramercy, I stayed there before and was upgraded to a suite, the suites are great, but the other rooms are very very small, and the location isn't anything to write home about.

FYI.

And yes, I did use the PRICELINE link above this time.

Congratulations on your success!

While perhaps SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID was not ideal for your plans, it does appear that you saved significantly (at least $150) over the course of the three days by doing so... hopefully savings worthwhile to you which can be spent elsewhere around the city enjoying your time there.

So that each win can appear in the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins, we use a format of only one win per thread... we've used this one to reflect your first nite at the Affinia Manhattan, please start a NEW TOPIC to reflect your Sheraton New York purchase.

Thank you for sharing your win with the board and using our PRICLINE link to begin your bidding.

Enjoy your stay(s).

I arrived late and was given a room so small I would consider it a large closet. Even smaller than the other small rooms I have stayed in in NYC. They were already booked by the time I got there, and this may have had something to do with it. The room wasn't very recently or lavishly updated, but overall it was acceptable. The lobby was nice. Location is very good.
