trytofly Posted May 18, 2009 Report Posted May 18, 2009 We signed up for the "watch" column of Hotwire, where they supposedly inform you if the prices are dropping (or rising) for your desired location and dates. We receive a notification about every 2-3 days that our prices are dropping, but so far, over the last 3 weeks, the prices only dropped once (by about $2 the very first notice). All other times, the prices were higher. THe closer we get to travel, the higher they go.That's not a surprise, but very disappointed with their false notices of falling prices, when indeed they are rising. Any one else use this feature and have a positive experience?
thereuare Posted May 18, 2009 Report Posted May 18, 2009 HOTWIRE doesn't know exactly which zone and/or star rating you're looking at... only the general area and dates. So while the zone and/or star rating your watching may be increasing in price, there may be different rated hotels, in different zones, which are decreasing in price. What area(s) are you watching, what star rating, dates, and zone are you looking for? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. trytofly Posted May 18, 2009 Author Report Posted May 18, 2009 Watching London for various dates between May 22 - May 31. Some days for 2 guests, other days for 3.Our "watch" dates are 5/24-28, and 5/23-25. Already made refundable reservations for those dates, and are okay w/ them. (Lower rated hotels, but high customer rankings). Also made a Priceline reservation for 3/31 using the Better Bidding PRICELINE link. Previously posted that "win" -- and dissapointment ;-), so we're trying to be more cautious about it this time. We're most interested in 5/23-25 (for 2), but the rates keep rising, so we may just keep what we have (the Kensignton Premier Inn). Thanks!
thereuare Posted May 18, 2009 Report Posted May 18, 2009 The double/triple occupancy may be an issue as well... i don't know if the travelticker 'observes' occupancy numbers. Thanks for using our PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links :) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
