Greetings all,

I landed a room at the 3.5-star Roosevelt just outside of Grand Central Terminal on a third bid of $115. I'm expecting a beautiful lobby and an average room, but at that price I won't be complaining.

My first bid was $110 for 4-star hotels in MTE. I upped it to $125 and expanded to MTW. After that was rejected, I dropped my bid and added 3.5-star hotels. The Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins was a great help in finding the range for my bids, so I thank you very much for adding that feature to an already excellent site.

Cheers

Just returned from this hotel and the location is fabulous. The breakfast place "Todd and Blake" across the street is less gourmet than "Dishes", but is a very reasonable, good fast deli with a grill. They have a 4.95 breakfast there.

Go to Happy Hour or at night up at the Mad46 ( 19th floor of hotel)lounge for a lovely outdoor drink experience. It is very popular with the local young business people.

Closest free internet is the NY Public library. You get 45 min/day. Kinko's is $18.00/hour.

We had two different rooms. Part of our group asked for two beds and were given them after asking "Who wanted the two beds?".

Our "cozy queen" was just that. Bathrooms are dated but face-lifted with a sometimes messy paint job and messy tub re-caulking, but our room was clean and the bed was fine. No in room coffee maker, but I think I read somewhere that someone had been able to get one.

Bellman and doorman seem to have attitude sometimes.

But in general the staff was very congenial. I can only say praise for them as they quickly and professionally resolved a medical emergency for my mom while she was there.

I would not be unhappy getting this same hotel again on priceline. It is not luxurious, but definitely was a positive experience all round.

I would echo those sentiments. Most of my dining early in the day was on the food concourse in Grand Central Terminal, which provided some good value. Service in the hotel was, as I expected, perfunctory, but lobby is gorgeous and the bar is a great place for a late afternoon drink. What I liked best about my room was the bed. It was brand new or at least felt that way, and the TV was high quality. With a hotel of that vintage, I expect a dated design, especially in the bathroom, but I was pleased with the water pressure and overall comfort of the room. I would have no problem staying here again.
