bmasters Posted May 13, 2009 Report Posted May 13, 2009 I checked hotwire for dates June 19-26 with following results:$105 4.5 star, which I believe to be Madison, but next two are mystery to me:4* Alexandria Old Town for $102 (Westin??)3* Dupont/Embassy for $109, Boutique, Fitness, Restaurant, Bus. Ctr, Hi Speed int (perhaps Helix?)Any insight on these is much appreciated. I would go ahead and book the 4.5 star but I am hesitant about some of the Madison reviews since I might be able to score a Kimpton property at a lower star level for about the same price. I want to stay near $100 (or less is great) and above 3 star, don't want to be super-far...as in NO to Chantilly/Airport area. I am also travelling with two children ages 6 and 1 1/2, so the biggest room possible. I realize this is a tight needle to thread, but why do this much legwork if you don't get what you want, right??

bmasters Posted May 14, 2009 Author Report Posted May 14, 2009 Well, that particular price/hotel seems to be gone today. I guess it won't do a lot of good to figure it out. But I am looking favorably at a 3* in Arlington for $69. My dates are June 19-26, and the amenities listed for this one are Smoke free, Restaurant, and hi-speed internet. This appears to me to be the Hilton Arlington, based on your "pinned" lists. I would like it very much if this is the case. Only thing to do now is book it and cross my fingers, but I can't imagine a better deal than a three star for $69 in DC. I welcome thoughts and feedback.
bmasters Posted May 14, 2009 Author Report Posted May 14, 2009 Happy to report that BB was right about the Hilton Arlington, I booked it a few moments ago (through your HOTWIRE link, of course) and I will add it to the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins. Thanks, I wish I had found this site a long time ago!
bmasters Posted May 14, 2009 Author Report Posted May 14, 2009 Sweet! Thanks to the pinned list, I was able to correctly predict this win. It is listed on Hotwire as:3*Arlington3.5 of 5 with 60+ reviews from Trip Advisoramenities smoke free, restaurant, and hi-speed internetI am mainly glad to find a hotel super-close to a metro station, my main objective. Getting a hotel in this city with this brand name for less than $100 a night is very exciting. I think I will be able to overlook a couple of poor reviews, and I don't always put a lot of stock in those, anyway. Thanks again for such a great site.
