Rooms for the weekend of my stay were plentiful and cheap but the Sun - Tues were murder - thanks to a 12,000+ person international conference I need to attend. The cheapest 4* Dupont Circle offering I could get on HOTWIRE (today) was $156.My first-time PRICELINE bid netted me $21/night savings - a big deal over 5 days - and the bidding was completed in less than 20 minutes total. My strategy:$95 - 4* - Dupont Circle (rej)$115 - 4* - Dup Cir, Springfield (rej)$125 - 4* - Dup Cir, Spring, Conv Ctr (rej)$135 - 4* - Dup Cir, Spring, Conv Ctr, Mt. Vernon (accepted) - Hotel PalomarI'm more-than-happy but will be a little more adventurous next time when I'm not under-the-gun. Would've started with lower amount and 3.5* - Dupont Circle - as my next strategy but didn't need to. This site is a tremendous resource. Will recommend it to others!
