yellowdog Posted April 20, 2009 Report Posted April 20, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding :) Do you see the same amenities for both dates?Yellowdog.
jesseshiue Posted April 20, 2009 Author Report Posted April 20, 2009 yes, the amenities are the same for both dates!!
thereuare Posted April 20, 2009 Report Posted April 20, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding! The amenities above are very common for a 4* city hotel and the above matches both the Westin San Diego and the Westin Gaslamp Quarter. The Tripadvisor information (although currently incomplete due to a programming issue at HOTWIRE) when searching for 6/27-7/1 matches that of the Westin San Diego so that would be our best guess for the property offered when searching 6/27-7/1. Note that when searching for 6/27-7/2 there is no TA information provided so it's possible that is a different hotel entirely (the Westin Gaslamp Quarter??) which could account for the major price difference.Another possibility is that it is the same hotel being offered but the hotel has not loaded deeply discounted inventory for the nite of 7/1 and therefore the algorthm used by HOTWIRE is taking the more expensive nite into consideration and applying it equally across the board for all the nites. (there are other possibilities but the above seem like the two most likely)Are you willing to split your purchase and <likely> have to change hotels for the last nite of your stay as that would likely save you some money vs. booking the last nite at 'hotel direct' prices? If not, and you intend to purchase the last nite directly thru the hotel, i would do so before your arrival, otherwise you're basically at the mercy of the hotel who has a customer standing in front of them who is likely to pay "whatever it takes" as starting to research rates while in a hotel lobby is not something most would go thru (nor is is easily done)... and the hotel knows this and quotes rates accordingly :) (note that if you are willing to change hotels HOTWIRE has a 4* in this zone for 7/1-7/2 for $119/nite... likely far cheaper than a 4* hotel can be booked for in this area thru conventional means)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. (and if you do received the Westin and decide to book the last nite direct, please use our Westin Link (also found in our support page) to begin that hotel direct reservation)Let us know what you decide to do and how it goes or if we can be of further help. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
jesseshiue Posted May 11, 2009 Author Report Posted May 11, 2009 The Westgate Hotel 1055 Second Avenue San Diego, California 92101 619-238-1818I used the PRICELINE link provided on top of the BetterBidding board, and got it at the first bidding.I had tried it last month and could not get any hotel even at the price of $100, so I tried this time started at $90,then...........BangI know it's not the best deal ( April520 got the same hotel at $79, 5/8-5/10), but it's not disappointed me, I am very happy and enjoyed the process.I saved a lot from this deal, and you know, The Westgate , what a hotel.thanks for the help.
yellowdog Posted May 11, 2009 Report Posted May 11, 2009 Congratulations on your successThank you for sharing your win with the board and using our PRICELINE link to begin your bidding :) Great to see that you're happy with the outcome.Have a nice stay.Yellowdog.PS. Dates are rate specific, so you can't compare them. Your stay is further away so this could be one of the factors that you had to pay more.
