Priceline Hotel: 5* Las Vegas (Strip) Venetian

Hi : I'm trying to get a bargain room for 1/16/05-1/21/05. in Las Vegas There is a covention that week 75,000. I want a 3-4 star hotel on or near the strip. In the past I've paid $59-$69 for the Monte Carlo. Cheapest I could find is about $100 a night. Hotwire has a 3.5 star near strip east. I don't thinjk it is the Alexis. They say it has suites like the Alexis but has a casino.Amenities include: Casino, Restaurant(s), Pool(s), Fitness Center, Business Center, Laundry Facilities (self-service), Tennis Nearby. Any suggestions and recommendations for either Hotwire or Priceline for those dates would be appreciated.

Thank you for your quick response. The reveiws I have read say the Tuscany

is 1 mile from the strip and just o.k. the only advantage is the somewhat

larger rooms. I won't have a car so that won't work.By the way travelaxe

priceline or other site suggestions for the week of 1/16-1/21 would be

Whenever possible i try to avoid downloading programs onto my computer due to hidden programs that are often included with it. Even though i'm very cautious about what i do download, i still recently had a problem for over a month and only recently resolved it after spending a solid day and a half tracking it down. The advantage of our HOTEL CHECKER is there is no download required.

Regarding your Las Vegas stay, i don't think you'll see any great deals for these dates until November or so... Vegas just doesn't offer their best deals this far out. In the meantime i would book a cancellable back-up (usually directly at the hotel websites since most rates there are fully cancellable up to 48-72 hours before check-in) and continue to casually monitor rates... then get more serious (checking more often) near the end of October or beginning of November.

Just curious. I can book the Imperial Palace or Stardust now. ..$41 a nite for IP, 52 a nite for Stardust. thru Hotel Club... any suggestions.

Are those fully refundable rates?

If so i would book one as a back-up (personally i'd take the IP simply for location).

If not, you need to make a decision of you want to lock-in a non-refundable reservation this early at a hotel that most would consider less than 3 stars (your original requirement).

Hi: I just booked the Excalibur at an avg. of $66 a night plus tax as a back-up. I have been periodically bidding on a 4-5 star room on Priceline. I don't want the Westin, but wouldn't mind the other 4 stars or the 5 star. Any advice on when to bid for 1/16-1/21 and at what increments.

If you check out EASYCLICKTRAVEL for your dates there is an 'off the record' property for $99/nite. The 'off the record' is their version of an opaque product but if you read the description of "... the London Club, 7000 seat Theater for the Performing Arts, guestrooms no more than 7 rooms away from an elevelator, etc, etc" you'll see that all of these are things assoicated with the Aladdin. :)

Well I'm getting close to D-Day...18 days to my arrival. 1/16-1/21. I have Excalibur as a cancelable backup. Any thoughts as to how and when to start bidding for a 4-5 * on the strip. I don't want the Westin...so maybe just trhe 5 * LOL

How high are you willing to go for a 5 star?

I don't thnk you have a chance at a 5* hotel for that price... will more likely take $140-$180 to be successful (we'll suggest an incrimental strategy if you want to bid this high or somewhere within the range).

The Sahara is available HERE for under $50/nite but i don't know if i would take that swap vs. the Excalibur due to location.

Monte Carlo may be available HERE for $89/nite but you'll have to fill out a request and they'll let you know within 48 hours (usually less).

Garden Rooms at the Tropicana are available for $59/nite.

Tower Rooms at the Boardwalk for $59/nite.

Of the above i would probaby try the Monte Carlo for the $89/nite rate... otherwise stick with the Excalibur or try for the Imperial Palace for $37/nite (may or may not be available). After that, it's a toss up between the Excalibur, Boardwalk, and Tropicana (would be worthwhile if you could upgrade to a tower room for an extra $10/nite which is often an option at check-in).

Thank you for your help.I don't think I want to pay $150-$180. Do you or your members have any experience using the $20(tip/trick) at check-in for an upgraded room at the Excalibur.

Not sure what an upgraded room at the Exacalibur would consist of... what sort of upgrade is it you're looking for?

I'd think a high room with a strip view may easily be had for $20, but i don't know enough about the layout of the Excalibur to know if their is an "upper calibur" room other than their standard.

There's a difference between a one time $20 tip and a $20/nite additional expense, but if money isn't the issue i'd take another look at the Monte Carlo above as i think it's a few steps above the Excalibur (and a more central location).

I've stayed at the Monte Carlo twice before. But at a $40-$50 premium per nite I don't think it's worth it. However, that being said, I've never stayed at the Excalibur. If I could get Bellagio or the Venetian for a $50 per nite premium , that would be another story. :)

I have stayed at the Excalibur (granted it was quite a few years ago) and it just has a very 'kiddie' atmosphere.

I agree that for a $50/nite premium it isn't worth it, but i believe this upgrade would be less than $25/nite, which in my opinion is worth it... but others may disagree (which is why there are so many hotels in Vegas... different strokes for different folks).

Hi: I really didn't want to stay at the Excalibur. I figured it was worth a shot to try bidding again for the 5*. I saw where someone won for $99 a nite for similar dates. I started at $85,$90,95,99, and won at $105 using my free rebid zones. I hope that helps anyone looking for 1/16-1/21.

My comments above were based upon current rates at that time. Of course as rates change (up or down) so do your chances of a successful priceline win increase/decrease.
