top_mom Posted May 1, 2009 Report Posted May 1, 2009 Travelling July 31-Aug 4 with two friends. Ideally we would like to stay in Times Square 4*, but would prefer two double beds. How do we go about making that happen? I have used priceline successfully in the past, but never needed two double beds, and I don't seem to remember that option.
top_mom Posted May 1, 2009 Author Report Posted May 1, 2009 Will be travelling to NYC with two friends July 31- Aug 4 and would ideally like Times Square 4* hotel room with two double beds. I have used priceline successfully in the past, but beds was not an issue. Is there any way of guaranteeing this? Thanks for any assistance!
Romelle Posted May 1, 2009 Report Posted May 1, 2009 PRICELINE only guarantees a room for two people. Not bed type. It isn't an option as you are bidding. After you win, you can make a request to the hotel directly, but the hotel has no obligation to do anything. Some do grant the requests, but some don't.You are actually talking three people for this trip. You might want to consider HOTWIRE instead, as that lets you specify number of people beforehand. You could look at the reviews of NYC Times Square hotels here and see how people have reporting the bedding situation. It might give you some odds at least of getting what you would like to have.Romelle
thereuare Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 It's generally not recommended to use PRICELINE in NYC when you're going to be more than double occupancy as the risk is higher than in most other parts of the country. There are a lot of hotels in NYC, at all star levels, that have a high percentage of rooms with just one bed, and with space at a premium and rooms notoriously small, many of these rooms don't even have enough space to accomodate a rollaway (if one is avaialble)If you need more than double occupancy in NYC HOTWIRE is likely a better option as they'll allow you to search for up to quad occupancy. Also, if you haven't seen it yet, you may want to give a read to our thoughts regarding limiting your zone and only searching Hotels in Times Square. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly.
