RWhite Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 Hello everyone! This is my first time here so I hope I do this right. After a savings of only 13% on my upcoming flight to Tulsa, I wasn't real impressed with Priceline. But I did get a good sized rental car for $21 a day so I thought I'd give it a shot on bidding for a hotel room. I could always say no and go to one of the other online services that I normally use.So here's how it went:Today I started my bid for a 2 star property at $28 for Broken Arrow, where I wanted to be, knowing it was too low.1) Broken Arrow -- rejected2) Added Warren zone, rebid at $28 -- rejected3) Raised bid to $30 same zones, Broken Arrow and Warren, added 2.5 and 3 stars -- rejected4) Added Mid-Town/Expo Center to Broken Arrow and Warren, 2, 2.5, and 3 stars, still at $30 -- ACCEPTED --Baymont Inn & Suites Tulsa -- 2 Star4530 East Skelly DriveTulsa, OK 74135918-488-8777Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $30.00 (USD)Number of Rooms: 1Number of Nights: 6Room Subtotal: $180.00 (USD)Taxes and Fees: $34.34 (USD)Total Room Cost: $214.34 (USD)I was going for the cheap to begin with. This property gets decent reviews for the most part. It's just been totally renovated so hopefully I won't have any nasty surprises. I'll let you all know. It is 11 miles from my conference but that's all the driving I'll be doing so it's not too bad and it's all freeway so it will be a fast trip.Amenities are:* Free hot Continental Breakfast (which probably means a waffle maker)* Gym/Fitness Center* Free High Speed Internet* Meeting Facilities* Pets Allowed (not good news but what can you do)* PoolI priced this hotel at their own site and at Hotels.com. The cheapest AAA/AARP/Business rate was $55 per night so I'm getting a savings of $25 per night. :) Unfortunately, I did not know about the PRICELINE links here at this site or I would have gladly used them. I surely will the next time. Thanks for a great service here. I'll be back!RW
