Priceline Hotel: 3.5* Northern Virginia (Fairfax) Hyatt Fair Lakes

As this is my first time using PRICELINE I would really appreciate some help. I am travelling to DC from 6/10 - 6/14 and would like a minimum 3.5* hotel for my family (myself, wife, and 8 yo daughter.) I would really prefer a Suite since my daughter goes to bed before we do. I'm open to location, however I will have a car and therefore it's not as important to be in the middle of everything. Free parking and a nearby Metro stop would be ideal. Budget is $100/night or less.

Any suggestions on where to start would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

To begin, PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, after that it's at the descretion of the hotel. You could receive a room with only one bed and the hotel may not be able, or willing, to give you a room with two beds (and if they are willing may charge you an additional fee)

As well, there is no way to bid for a Suite with PRICELINE, you're subject to any hotel in the zone at the minimum star level (or higher) that you select.

HOTWIRE will allow you to search for up to quad occupancy, and while not too many such hotels in this area, will show you a SUITE icon if it's a suite property. However, many of these 'suite' properties are not true suites with a separate room (with a door) but simply larger than a standard rooms w/ a 3/4 wall separating the two areas. While HOTWIRE enables you to search for up to quad occupancy and know if it's a suite property or not, it's also a little more expensive than PRICELINE, so that's the trade-off.

Thank you for the info. It sounds like HOTWIRE will be the way to go for me. I am willing to pay a little extra $, in order to guarantee 2 beds minimum. My next big concern is parking fees, as the first half of our trip will be in NJ and I will have a rental car. We are flying out of Dulles on June 14th and I would be willing to stay outside DC if it meant not having to pay $45/night for parking. Please let me know what my best options are and I will go thru your links to book my hotel ASAP.

If you start by searching HOTWIRE for 2adults/1child, are there any hotels offered which meet your minimum star rating requirement and your budget? From there you can try to ID them and determine what the hotel charges for parking.

A quick update:

I ended up using the PRICELINE link and tried the Arlington/Crystal City/DuPont Circle areas for a 3.5* hotel, going up to $95 and was unsuccessful. I did some more research and decided to move west and use the Fairfax/Tysons Corner area and was successful bidding for a 3.5* at $65/night.

Hotel was the Fair Lakes Hyatt and when I called them and gave them my Gold Passport number, they immediately changed my preference to a double bed room. I am extremely happy with the transaction and thank you for all your help.
