jt71903 Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 I tried to look up the hotel brands in the 3.5* and 4* range and found some hotels are in both star level. Should I bid the 3.5* then? For example: Sheraton, Marriott in Dupont Circles, Washington DC.Thanks!
thereuare Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 Welcome to BetterBidding!I'm not really sure what you're asking here, but i'll take a shot:Are you willing to pay more for a higher rated hotel OR is your goal the least expensive 3.5* or better in any of the zones you selecty? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. jt71903 Posted May 4, 2009 Author Report Posted May 4, 2009 Thanks for your reply.I went to PRICELINE and check Dupont Circle, then select 4-Star Deluxe link, there is a window pop up and mentions what kind of hotels in their 4-star level. Then, I do this again for 3 1/2 Star Upscale-Plus. From the hotel brands that it lists, Sheraton and Marriot are in both star levels. I was just confused what star level that these hotels are rated exactly.Anyway, we are planning to go to Washington DC for five days (4 nights) on 6/8-12. The best option is around the Capitol Hill or White House Downtown areas. The next option is Arlington area. 3.5* or above and the budget is between $50 - $60. The least expensive the best. There was a win of a 3.5* at Capitol Hill for $60/nt on 6/12-15. Any tips are appreciated.
thereuare Posted May 5, 2009 Report Posted May 5, 2009 Hotel brands can span many different star ratings. For example, in a given area a Marriott may be rated 4* but in another city the Marriott there may be rated 3*. Brands give you a sense of what to expect, but there is such a variation from property to property, even within the same brand, it would be impossible to give a 'blanket' star rating to all hotels in the chain.Based upon current rates I think you're going to have a tough time winning a 3.5* or better hotel in Capitol Hill or White House Downtown, but hopefully you can prove me wrong... did you want to try up to limit first in those two zones before adding Arlington or are you looking for the least expensive in any of the three zones? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
