XT600 Posted May 3, 2009 Report Posted May 3, 2009 Was looking for a good value deal outside of Rome. Weekends are low demand and low rates. I checked here, hotwire and studied the best deals for that weekend. hotwire offers (100% sure) the Melia for $69/night, very low "fees" only $7.15 for 2 nights. Melia homepage and some pay-at hotel portals offer this hotel fully flexible for 62 EUR incl. tax excl. BF. (with BF add 9 EUR/Person if booked) - BF in Italy in a bar is 1,5 EUR/person :) So I thought that the lost flexibility booking with priceline NYOP should be worth to offer 20% discount to the official rate and I was right:- started "west" with $52, rejected- added "south" for $56, got it!Total incl. fees $132.36 which should be around 100 EUR with todays exchange rate :) 50 EUR/night is 20% below their official rate and generally quite good for this hotel: it's on some portals marked as 4,5*!!! BTW: free parking and free poolNOTE: this hotel is #80 in Tripadvisor and the histogram looks very positive! However it's quite far outside from Rome. You'll need some time to travel to sightseeing areas (we know Rome and will enjoy the facilities if weather is nice)

don_loah Posted May 22, 2009 Report Posted May 22, 2009 NOTE: this hotel is #80 in Tripadvisor and the histogram looks very positive! However it's quite far outside from Rome. You'll need some time to travel to sightseeing areas (we know Rome and will enjoy the facilities if weather is nice) Yes I stayed here last summer and the hotel property was great and full of amenities for the price. There is a shuttle that runs apox. every hour to a metro station. Taking a taxi to return at night is worth it because I was exhausted from all the sightseeing. All in all a great stay but always keep in mind the trip to and from the hotel.
XT600 Posted May 28, 2009 Author Report Posted May 28, 2009 Thanks Don_loa, we'll have a car and actually accepted to be outside as we most likely will either enjoy the pool or visit the surroundings of Rome (Castelli Romani). However not a real great deal as 1. only 12 EUR below official weekend rate2. extension for 2 days was not accepted....we will move to South (Latina) and visit beach area Galea
XT600 Posted June 11, 2009 Author Report Posted June 11, 2009 Back from Italy! Nice real 4* hotel with free city shuttle but I noticed that their official weekend rate is 52 EUR if you book early enough. Again an example that PRICELINE is not a real good deal as they just offer same price as on their own website
